Spark Firmware Troubleshooting

Our development team is hard at work to make sure that all Spark users are able to use the most recent firmware version. That being said, if you are running into any issues, just follow the steps below for some directions and troubleshooting tips.

Wondering why you need to update your firmware? We’re always working to improve the Spark experience, and from time to time we release new firmware updates that allow you to enjoy the latest and greatest features available for your Spark. Updating your firmware requires you to connect your Spark to your computer with the included USB-to-USB type B cable that came with your Spark. The process to update your firmware should take about 1-2 minutes.

Running into problems? First, try these steps.

 

  1. Make sure your Spark is powered on
  2. Make sure your power supply is tightly connected to your Spark, and that the power cable is firmly plugged into a wall socket.
  3. Try resetting your Spark amp to factory default

 

If your computer doesn't recognize your Spark, try these steps.

 

  1. Try another USB port, then run the firmware updater again. Note: please do not use a USB Hub
  2. Try unplugging and replugging the Spark USB cable.
  3. Make sure to run the firmware updater as the system administrator.
  4. Try another computer
  5. For Windows users: make sure to install the ASIO driver, then try again.



If your firmware update was successful, but you’re not getting any sound out of your Spark, please try these steps.

 

  1. Try to reinstall the firmware, click on the "Eject" button at the end of the process and unplug the USB cable.
  2. Complete a factory reset. (how to backup the preset)



If the firmware update failed, please try these steps:

 

  1. Try to reinstall the firmware, click on the "Eject" button at the end of the procedure and unplug the USB cable.
  2. Try another USB port, then run the firmware updater again. Note: please do not use a USB Hub.
  3. Try unplugging and replugging the Spark USB cable.
  4. Make sure to run the firmware updater as the system administrator.
  5. Try another computer



If you can't launch the firmware updater on Mac, please try these steps:

 

  1. Right-click on the firmware updater.
  2. Select "Open".
  3. Click "Open" on the alert window.

If none of these tips fix the issue, please contact us with the following information for our team to narrow down the issue, then we will assist you asap. 

 

  1. Spark 40 Serial Number 
  2. OS type and version 
  3. Whether you are using a USB hub or not 
  4. The website/source you got the original firmware updater from
