Crafting your own Modulation Effects
BIAS Pedal Modulation includes two modules with different effects; The first module includes time and filter-based effects, the second module includes amplitude modulations. BIAS Pedal Modulation also allows you to use both modules at the same time, allowing you to add a little chorused flavor to your tremolo, or create some truly unique, over-the-top sounds such as a heavily flanged stutter sound with slow attack.
Modulation Module 1
[Universal Settings]
Topology: Select the effect type you want to use (this can be seen on the left most knob), the definition of parameters differs from one effect type to another
Time Sync display panel: When the BPM switch is on, the Time Sync will display the value of Rate knob as time division correspond to global BPM set in BIAS Pedal software. When the BPM switch is off, the Time Sync displays the value of the Rate knob in Hz.
BPM switch: Set the Rate knob to adjust Hz or time division corresponded to global BPM
Intensity: Adjust the dry/wet mix. When the Intensity knob is set to the max output (all the way to the right), the signal is 100% wet and you are only hearing the effected signal.
Tone: Adjust the EQ of the wet signal.
Low-Cut: Cut off low frequency on wet signal to clean out some muddiness when needed.
LFO: Adjust the shape of LFO waveform, Sine (Top left) and Triangle (Bottom left) usually provide a more subtle/controlled effect, while Pulse (Top right) and Rounded Pulse (Bottom right) adds some stutter to the effect.
Output: Adjust overall output volume.
[Vibrato]
Rate: Adjust the oscillation speed of LFO.
Depth: Adjust the oscillation depth of LFO.
Voice: Adjust the number of voices generated by the effect, more voices results in a lush sounding effect.
Feedback: Adjust the signal level being fed back into the wet signal chain.
Wobble: Adjust the 2nd LFO, turning it on results in some randomness in the Depth setting
Width: Adjust the stereo image of the effect.
Offset: Shifting the center point of modulation.
[Flanger]
Rate: Adjust the oscillation speed of LFO.
Depth: Adjust the oscillation depth of LFO. When depth is set to 10 (maximum), it becomes a “Through Zero Flanger”.
Voice: Adjust this to select 4 different type flanger, Voice 1 is “positive narrow mode”, Voice 2 is “positive wide mode”, Voice 3 is “negative narrow mode” Voice 4 is “negative wide mode”, positive/negative means it use a positive or negative feedback, narrow/wide means different sweeping range of flanger.
Feedback: Adjust the signal level being fed back into the wet signal chain.
Wobble: Adjust the 2nd LFO, turning it on results in some randomness in the Depth setting
Width: Adjust the stereo image of the effect.
Offset: Shifting the center point of modulation.
[Rotary]
Rate: Adjust the rotation speed of the rotary speakers.
Depth: Adjust the virtual mic distance of horn speaker , higher = closer.
Voice: Adjust the angle of 2 microphones: voice1 = 0 degrees, voice 2 = 45 degrees, voice 3 = 90 degrees and voice 4 = 180 degrees.
Feedback: adjust the signal level being fed back into the wet signal chain.
Wobble: Adjust the speed ratio of horn speaker and woofer speaker.
Width: Adjust the virtual mic distance of woofer speaker, higher=closer.
Offset: Adjust the crossover frequency of horn and woofer speakers.
[Phaser]
Rate: Adjust the oscillation speed of LFO.
Depth: Adjust the oscillation depth of LFO.
Voice: Adjust the stage of phaser: voice1 = 2 stages, voice2 = 4 stages, voice3 = 8 stages and voice4 = 12 stages, more stages results in a more hollowed effect.
Feedback: Adjust the signal level being fed back into the wet signal chain.
Wobble: Adjust the 2nd LFO, turning it on results in some randomness in the Depth setting.
Width: Adjust the stereo image of the effect.
Offset: Shifting the center point of modulation.
Modulation Module 2
[Universal Settings]
Topology: Select the effect type of Module 2, the definition of parameters differs from one effect type to another.
Time Sync display panel: When the BPM switch is on, the Time Sync will display the value of Rate knob as time division correspond to global BPM set in Bias Pedal software. When the BPM switch is off, the Time Sync displays the value of the Rate knob in Hz.
BPM switch: Set Rate knob to adjust Hz or time division corresponded to global BPM.
LFO: Adjust the shape of LFO waveform, Sine/Triangle usually provide a more subtle/controlled effect, while Pulse/Rounded Pulse adds some stutter to the effect
Tone: Adjust the EQ of the wet signal.
Intensity: Adjust the dry/wet mix, when set to max the output is 100% wet signal and you are only hearing the effected signal.
Output: Adjust overall output volume.
[Tremolo]
Rate: Adjust the oscillation speed of LFO.
Depth: Adjust the oscillation depth of LFO.
Wobble: Adjust the 2nd LFO, turning it on results in some randomness in the Depth setting
Shift: Have the LFO waveform lean to left or right.
[Pan]
Rate: Adjust the oscillation speed of LFO.
Depth: Adjust the oscillation depth of LFO.
Wobble: Adjust the 2nd LFO, turning it on results in some randomness in the Depth setting
Shift: Have the LFO waveform lean to left or right.
[Ring Mod]
Rate: Adjust the oscillation speed which modulates carrier frequency.
Depth: Adjust the oscillation depth which modulates carrier frequency.
Wobble: Set the carrier frequency, which has a very prominent effect on the overall RingMod sound.
Shift: Set the LFO waveform lean to left or right.
[Auto Swell]
Rate: Adjust the oscillation speed of 2nd LFO, which adds tremolo to the slow attack sound.
Depth: Adjust the threshold / sensitivity to trigger slow-attack.
Wobble: Set the depth of 2nd LFO, which adds tremolo to the slow attack sound.
Shift: Set the speed of volume rise for slow attack.
