BIAS Amp Software — Setup & Connection – Help Center

BIAS Head/Rack comes with free BIAS Amp 2 software for both desktop and mobile. This guide covers how to activate your license and connect your hardware to the software.

Free Software Included: BIAS Amp 2 Professional for Desktop (Mac/PC) and BIAS Amp 2 Mobile for iPad/iPhone.

BIAS Rack Users

Install the bundled antenna onto the WIRELESS connector on the rear panel before connecting to mobile devices.

Desktop (Mac/PC)

Step 1 — Create a ToneCloud Account

If you don’t have one yet, sign up at account.positivegrid.com.

Step 2 — Download & Install BIAS Amp 2 Desktop

Download the latest version from positivegrid.com/demo.
Install the software, then launch the standalone application and log in with your ToneCloud credentials.

Step 3 — Connect via USB

Keep BIAS Head/Rack powered off until BIAS Amp 2 is fully installed.
Connect the supplied USB-B to USB-A cable from the rear of your unit to your computer.

Step 4 — Register Your Hardware

Once connected, a registration prompt will appear. Click REGISTER.
Confirm your Positive Grid/ToneCloud account matches the Current Owner Account shown, then complete registration.

On first connection, BIAS Amp 2 will automatically update the firmware. This may take a few minutes.

Verifying Your License

After registration, go to Settings → App Information to confirm your license tier shows as Professional.

Disconnecting

Go to Settings → Eject to safely disconnect your hardware before unplugging the USB cable.

Mobile (iOS)

Connect wirelessly via Bluetooth. Compatible with iPad (3rd gen and later) and iPhone 4S and later.

Step 1 — Download BIAS Amp 2

Download BIAS Amp 2 from the App Store (free to download).

Step 2 — Connect via Bluetooth

Turn on your BIAS Head/Rack and confirm the Wireless button is flashing blue.
Open BIAS Amp 2 and tap Settings → Connect. The app will detect your hardware automatically.

Do not turn off Bluetooth while connecting — this may interrupt the pairing process.

Step 3 — Register Your Hardware

When prompted, tap REGISTER and log in to your ToneCloud account.
Once registered, a full BIAS Amp 2 Mobile license is permanently added to your account.

If you tap Run Temporary instead, full features are available only while hardware is connected. Register any time to get the permanent license.

Disconnecting

Tap Settings → Eject to disconnect.

License Transfer & Resale

The BIAS Amp 2 Desktop license is locked to your hardware upon registration. Deactivate before selling your unit.

Selling: Contact support to deactivate the license before transferring the hardware.
Buying used: Ask the previous owner to deactivate first, then register to your own account.
