F1 & F2 Switches - Footswitch & Serial/Parallel Modes

BIAS Head and BIAS Rack feature two utility switches on the rear panel: F1 (Footswitch calibration) and F2 (Serial/Parallel mode). This guide covers how to use both switches.

F1 Switch - Working with a Footswitch

BIAS Head and BIAS Rack are compatible with BIAS Footswitch and most one-button latch-type footswitches.

Hardware Connection

  • BIAS Head: Connect your footswitch to FOOTSWITCH jack 2 on the back using a TRS cable.
  • BIAS Rack: Connect your footswitch to EXP. PEDAL jack 2 on the back using a TRS cable.
EXP.PEDAL jack 1 / FOOTSWITCH jack 1 is only compatible with BIAS Footswitch. Jack 2 works with all latch-type footswitches.

Calibrating Your Footswitch

Step 1: Enter Calibration Mode

Hold the F1 switch (calibration switch) on the rear of the unit for 3 seconds until the LED lights up Blue.

Step 2: Record OFF Status

Step on your footswitch to record the OFF status (minimal value).

Step 3: Lock OFF Status

Flick the F1 switch to lock in the OFF status. The LED will turn Red.

Step 4: Record ON Status

Step on your footswitch again to record the ON status (maximal value).

Step 5: Complete Calibration

Flick the F1 switch to lock in the ON status. The LED will flash a few times to indicate successful calibration.

Assigning Presets to Footswitch

Once calibrated, you can assign specific presets to your footswitch for quick switching between two tones.

Step 1: Choose Preset

Select the preset you'd like to use with your footswitch.

Step 2: Step on Footswitch

Step on the footswitch to set that tone to the footswitch.

Step 3: Save Assignment

Flick the F1 switch on the rear of the unit. The current preset will be saved with the footswitch value.

Step 4: Assign Second Preset

Repeat this process with another tone to switch between those two tones using your footswitch.

F2 Switch - Serial & Parallel Modes

The F2 switch toggles between Serial Mode and Parallel Mode, allowing you to configure different signal routing options for live performance or studio recording.

These modes are designed for amplifier models only. Serial Mode is the factory default setting.

Understanding Serial & Parallel Modes

Many artists prefer to run a wet and dry signal when playing live or in a studio:

  • Wet signal: On-stage cabinet or live room output
  • Dry signal: Desk-fed output with cabinet simulation (IR)

The F2 switch allows you to quickly toggle between these two modes depending on your setup:

  • Blue LED — Parallel Mode
  • Red LED — Serial Mode (factory default)

Serial Mode (Red LED)

  • Utility switch LED = Red
  • CAB SIM LED = Red
  • Cannot use Speaker Out and Line Outs at the same time
  • The CAB SIM switch affects all audio output jacks, including the Powered 4-16 Ohm Output
  • The Send/Return works properly with all audio output jacks

Parallel Mode (Blue LED)

  • Utility switch LED = Blue
  • CAB SIM LED = Blue
  • Can use Speaker Out and Line Outs at the same time
  • The CAB SIM switch does not affect the 4-16 Ohm Speaker output
  • The Send/Return only works with Line Outs under Parallel Mode
