Spark LINK XLR is Not Charging

If either the Spark LINK XLR TX (Transmitter) or RX (Receiver) does not show the red charging LED when connected to a USB-C cable, follow the steps below.

Why this happens: Spark LINK XLR has a small amount of self-discharge over time. A fully charged unit can sit unused for about a year before the battery voltage drops below 3 V, at which point the unit automatically powers off. If it continues to sit unused and the cell voltage falls below 2 V, the battery enters a protection state and a normal charger cannot wake it up. The recovery steps below safely bring the unit out of protection mode.

Step 1: Try a different USB cable and power source

Before trying the recovery procedure, rule out a faulty cable or power source.

  • ✅ Use a standard USB charging block rated 5 V / 2 A, or connect to a computer USB port with the original cable.
  • 🚫 Avoid USB hubs and high-speed (fast-charge) wall chargers.
  • If your computer only has USB-C ports, use a USB-A to USB-C adapter as needed.
  • Test with a different USB charging cable to rule out a faulty cable.

If the red charging LED still does not light up, continue to Step 2.

Step 2: Recover Spark LINK XLR from low-voltage protection

The reset button is located inside a small pinhole on the side of the unit (same location on both TX and RX). Use a SIM-eject tool or thin paperclip.

RX pinhole location TX pinhole location

  1. Press and hold the pinhole (Reset Button).
  2. While still holding it, plug in the USB-C cable.
  3. Hold for 5 seconds.
  4. Unplug the USB-C cable and wait 3 seconds (keep holding the pinhole).
  5. Repeat steps 2–4 until the red charging LED lights up.
  6. Once the red LED is on, release the pinhole. The unit is now activated and will charge normally.
Keep the Reset Button held down for the entire sequence — do not release it between plug-in / unplug cycles. Only release after the red LED stays on. The number of cycles needed depends on how depleted the battery is — typically 5–15 cycles. If the red LED still does not appear after 15 cycles, please contact our support team.

Prevent this in the future: long-term storage tips

If you do not plan to use your Spark LINK XLR for several weeks or longer, please recharge it periodically to keep the battery healthy and avoid entering protection mode.

  • Top up the charge every 2–3 months, even if you are not using the unit.
  • Store the unit in a cool, dry place at normal room temperature.
  • Aim to keep the battery between 40% and 80% for long-term storage — avoid leaving it fully empty or fully charged for many months.
