Preset File Reading Error

Symptom: An error message appears saying "Preset File Reading Error" when switching presets in BIAS X.

Preset File Reading Error

This issue may be caused by file syncing services interfering with preset file access or corruption within the preset folder.

Troubleshooting Steps

  1. Disable Cloud-Based Sync

    • Turn off any cloud-based service (e.g., iCloud, OneDrive) that is syncing your Documents and Desktop folders.
  2. Verify the Local Documents Folder

    • Ensure the correct and most recently modified local Documents folder is being used.
    • The default installation paths are:
      • macOS: /Users/<YourUserName>/Documents/PositiveGrid/
      • Windows: C:\Users\<YourUserName>\Documents\PositiveGrid\
  3. Rename the Preset Folder

    • If the above steps don't resolve the issue, rename the BIAS_X folder to BIAS_X backup.
    • Folder paths:
      • macOS: /Users/<YourUserName>/Documents/PositiveGrid/BIAS_X
      • Windows: C:\Users\<YourUserName>\Documents\PositiveGrid\BIAS_X
  4. Launch BIAS X Again

    • Restart BIAS X to allow it to regenerate necessary folders and files.
If your presets are backed up in the cloud, make sure sync is disabled during this process to avoid restoring corrupted files.
