How to Recover Your BIAS X Projects in Logic Pro & GarageBand

If You Haven't Updated Yet

Save your presets first, then update BIAS X to the latest version by following steps 3–6 below.

Already Updated and Can't Open Your Projects?

If you see "The plug-in named 'BIAS X' isn't available on your system" error in your Logic Pro/GarageBand project,  do NOT remove BIAS X instances or save your project.

Presets are recoverable by reverting to BIAS X v1.1 as long as the plug-in is on the track.

Removing BIAS X from a track may result in the loss of unsaved tones or settings.

Step 1. Close your project without saving.

Step 2. Download and install the BIAS X (v1.1) from here

  • Uninstall v1.2 (or later)  first, then install v1.1.

Step 3. Open your project and save your presets.

  • Go to each BIAS X plugin on your tracks.
  • Click "Save" or “Save As” in the plug-in window.
  • Save to a project folder you'll remember.
Name each preset after its track (e.g., for a track named "E. GTR OD", save as "E. GTR OD").

Step 4. Save & Close the project.

Step 5. Install the latest version of BIAS X from the My Products / Desktop Software page.

Step 6. Reopen your project.

  • Insert a new BIAS X plugin on the tracks where the “!” warning appears.

  • Load your saved presets from the User tab.

  • Remove the BIAS X plugin with “!” warning from the track.

Now you can move forward using BIAS X with Logic and GarageBand as usual.
