Overview

This guide covers all connectivity options and live performance setup for REACTOR - from connecting external gear to on-stage workflow.

Connection Use Case REACTOR's Role
Line Out (O) Connect to PA / Mixer Full signal chain output
Headphone Out (O) Silent practice / monitoring Full signal chain + cab sim
FX Loop (P) Add external effects Preamp + Power Amp
Power Amp In (N) Use external preamp/modeler Power Amp only

Direct Out to PA / Mixer

Connect REACTOR to the house PA system while using the amp's speaker as your stage monitor.

Setup Steps

  1. Connect the Line Out (O) to your PA system or mixer using a 1/4" cable
  2. Line Out volume is at a fixed line level - adjust at the mixer
  3. Speaker output continues to function as your stage monitor
You can mute the speaker while using Line Out via the settings menu in the REACTOR App. Useful for silent stage setups or in-ear monitoring.

Headphone / Silent Practice

For silent stage setups or backstage warm-up:

  1. Connect headphones to the Headphone Out (O)
  2. The speaker mutes automatically
  3. Adjust volume with the Output Volume (G) knob
Cabinet simulation is automatically applied to the headphone output for a natural tone.

FX Loop - Adding External Effects

Use the FX Loop when you want to keep REACTOR's amp tone and insert external effects (delay, reverb, modulation, etc.) into the signal chain.

Signal Flow:
Guitar → REACTOR Preamp → FX Send → [Your Pedals] → FX Return → Power Amp → Speaker

Setup Steps

  1. Connect the FX Send (P) to your pedal's input
  2. Connect your pedal's output to the FX Return (P)
  3. Adjust FX Loop position in the signal chain via the REACTOR App
  4. Adjust Send/Return levels via the REACTOR App
Important Behavior
  • The FX Loop is only active when your guitar is connected to the Guitar Input
  • You cannot use Return alone to bypass the preamp
  • It is designed to insert effects into the signal path, not replace it

Power Amp Input - Using External Preamps

Use Power Amp In when your tone comes from an external amp modeler or preamp - REACTOR functions purely as a power amp + speaker.

Signal Flow:
External Device → Power Amp In → Power Amp → Speaker

Setup Steps

  1. Connect your external preamp or modeler to the Power Amp Input (N)
  2. The signal bypasses all internal DSP (preamp, effects)
  3. Adjust speaker volume with the Output Volume (G) knob
Disable the cab simulation on your modeler - REACTOR has a real speaker. Your tone comes entirely from your external gear.

FX Loop vs Power Amp In - Quick Reference

Feature FX Loop Power Amp In
Requires guitar input connection Yes No
Uses REACTOR preamp Yes No
Uses REACTOR effects Yes No
External gear role Effects only Main tone source
Best for Adding pedals to your REACTOR tone Using other modeling devices (e.g., third-party amp modelers or multi-effects units)

Simple rule:

  • FX Loop → Add to REACTOR's tone
  • Power Amp In → Replace REACTOR's tone
