This guide helps you resolve common issues during Spark PEDAL firmware updates.
If you haven't started updating yet:
Before the Update
Computer Doesn't Detect Spark PEDAL
Problem: My computer does not detect Spark PEDAL.
Solution: Try a different USB port directly on the rear of your computer, and avoid using a USB hub.
For Mac users, try resetting PRAM/NVRAM: How to Reset PRAM or NVRAM.
During the Update
Wi-Fi Keeps Scanning
Problem: The Spark app keeps scanning for Wi-Fi and nothing happens.
Solution: Perform a factory reset on Spark PEDAL, reconnect it to the Spark app, and try OTA again.
Entered Wrong Wi-Fi Password
Problem: I entered the wrong Wi-Fi password during the firmware update, and now Spark PEDAL can't connect to Wi-Fi.
Solution: Perform a factory reset on Spark PEDAL, reconnect it to the Spark app, and try OTA again.
Update Process Failed
Problem: The firmware update didn't complete successfully.
Solution: Try updating via USB instead. If the USB update also fails:
- Use a different computer.
- Try a factory reset before attempting again.
After the Update
Can't Connect Bluetooth After Update
Problem: After the firmware update, Spark PEDAL cannot be connected via Bluetooth.
Solution: Clear both pairings, then reconnect from scratch:
- Go to your phone's Bluetooth settings and unpair or forget Spark PEDAL Audio.
- In the Spark app, open the Product Card and tap Forget this device.
- Reopen the Spark app and pair Spark PEDAL again - connect Tone Control first, then Spark PEDAL Audio.
Spark PEDAL Powers On But Is Unresponsive
Problem: After the firmware update, Spark PEDAL powers on but is unresponsive.
Solution: Perform a factory reset.
