Why doesn't my knob position match the saved preset?

When you load a preset, its saved parameter values take effect immediately - but the physical knobs on the panel do not move to match those values. This can leave a knob sitting in a position that no longer reflects what's actually active. Here's how it works.

How programmable knobs behave

Most control knobs on the amp are linked to the values stored in each preset - these are called programmable knobs.

A programmable knob only takes over control once you physically turn it. From that moment on, the knob's position becomes the active value for that parameter - until you load a different preset, at which point control returns to that preset's saved values (again, until you move the knob).

The exception

The following knob always reflects its physical position, regardless of which preset is loaded:

  • GUITAR knob

Why you might hear a sudden change

If a knob's physical position is very different from the preset's saved value, you may hear a sudden jump the first time you turn it. This is most noticeable on the MASTER knob:

Example: A preset's saved MASTER value is 9, but the physical knob is sitting at 2. The amp will still output at 9 - until you touch the knob, at which point it jumps down to match wherever the knob physically is.

Tip: Before adjusting a knob, you can check the exact value currently stored in the preset from the Spark app:

Open the Spark app, connect to Spark 2, then tap your preset to see all the saved parameter values.

This way you know what to expect before you start turning.
