Overview
Product Basics
What is Spark CAB 2?
Spark CAB 2 is a powered FRFR (full-range, flat-response) guitar cabinet with a 10" woofer, 2× 1" tweeters, and a 140W Class D power amp, built to pair with Spark amps and finished to match Spark 2.
How exactly is Spark CAB 2 a rig expander for my Spark amp or Spark PEDAL?
Spark amps (GO, MINI, Spark 40, Spark 2) are combo units - the amp and speaker are built into one box. Spark CAB 2 is a second, larger powered speaker you connect to your Spark amp's headphone / line-out via the 3.5mm Spark Input. That gives you more volume and headroom than the amp's built-in speaker alone, in a two-piece amp-plus-cab setup.
Spark PEDAL is different - it has no built-in speaker. Spark CAB 2 becomes its dedicated speaker: connect Spark PEDAL's Line Out to Spark CAB 2's XLR/TRS Combo Input and you have a complete amp-and-cab rig in a two-piece setup.
Who is Spark CAB 2 for?
- Spark 2 owners who want more volume / headroom and a cabinet finished to match their amp.
- Owners of other Spark amps (GO, MINI, Pedal) who want one cabinet that works with whichever Spark amp they're using.
- Owners of third-party modelers (HX Stomp, Kemper, TONEX, Helix, etc.) who need an FRFR cabinet.
Is Spark CAB 2 stereo or mono?
Mono.
How loud is Spark CAB 2?
Up to 118 dB (RMS). That's loud. Think turbo-fan aircraft engine at takeoff from 200 feet.
Spark CAB 2 vs the Original Spark CAB
Why do I need Spark CAB 2 if I already own the original Spark CAB?
The core hardware is unchanged - same 140W Class D amp, same 10" woofer + 2× 1" tweeter configuration, same cabinet dimensions. What's new in Spark CAB 2: re-tuned acoustics, revised signal chain, and cosmetics matched to Spark 2 rather than Spark 40 / GO / MINI.
The reasons to move to Spark CAB 2 are the retuned sound, firmware upgradeability, and matching cosmetics to Spark 2.
What are the actual technical differences between Spark CAB 2 and the original Spark CAB?
- Acoustics: same woofer / tweeter configuration, re-tuned voicing on Spark CAB 2 for a tighter, more defined low end.
- Firmware: Spark CAB 2 has a USB-C port for field firmware updates with an LED status indicator.
- Unchanged: power (140W RMS Class D), impedance (4 ohms), frequency range (45-20,000 Hz), dimensions, and weight are the same on both.
What about the stylistic differences?
Spark CAB 2's finish, color, and cosmetic details (including grill trim) are matched to Spark 2's Black / Pearl + gold trim lineup, instead of the Spark 40 / GO / MINI look CAB 1 used. The cabinet shape, size, and footprint haven't changed from CAB 1.
Setup, Compatibility & Usage
Compatibility & Usage
Does it work with every single Spark amp?
Yes - it connects via the 3.5mm Spark Input to any current Spark amp (GO, MINI, Pedal, Spark 40, Spark 2), using the included 3.5mm stereo cable from the amp's headphone / line-out.
Can I use Spark CAB 2 with non-Spark gear, like modelers?
Yes. Spark CAB 2 works as a general-purpose FRFR cabinet with any gear that has a line-level output - including modelers like HX Stomp, Kemper, TONEX, and Helix - via the two XLR/TRS combo inputs.
Can I use Spark CAB 2 with a traditional tube amp head or combo?
No. Traditional amp heads (tube amps and similar) aren't compatible with Spark CAB 2's inputs and could damage both pieces of equipment.
Can I use Spark CAB 2 for bass, keys, or other instruments?
Yes. Any instrument or source with a line-level output - bass, keyboards, synths, electronic drums, etc. - can be connected through the XLR/TRS combo inputs.
Can I plug a guitar directly into Spark CAB 2?
We don't recommend it. Spark CAB 2 is FRFR - plugging a guitar straight in gives you a raw, unprocessed signal that won't sound like a usable guitar tone. Run the guitar through an amp / amp sim (Spark amp, Spark PEDAL, HX Stomp, Kemper, etc.) first, then into Spark CAB 2.
Can I plug a microphone directly into Spark CAB 2?
No. Microphones need to go through a preamp or mixer with a line-level output first, which can then be connected to the XLR/TRS combo inputs.
Can I use Spark CAB 2 without connecting it to a Spark amp?
Yes. Using the XLR/TRS combo inputs, Spark CAB 2 works standalone as a stage monitor or as a direct output to a PA system.
Can I connect two Spark amps (or two sources) to Spark CAB 2 at the same time?
The Input Selector routes either the 3.5mm Spark Input or the XLR/TRS Combo Inputs to the speaker - one source at a time. If you need to blend multiple sources, combine them first with an external mixer and feed the mixer's line-level output into Spark CAB 2's XLR/TRS Combo Input.
Does my Spark amp go silent when I connect it to Spark CAB 2?
Yes - your Spark amp is muted by default when connected to Spark CAB 2, so all the sound comes through the cabinet.
When connecting Spark CAB 2 to Spark 2's line outputs, there is a mute / unmute switch in the settings menu in the Spark app - Spark 2 users can mute or unmute Spark 2's own speakers when using line outs with Spark CAB 2.
Can Spark CAB 2 power or charge my Spark amp?
Yes.
- DC Out (20V / 2.5A) powers a Spark 2 (using the included DC Power Cable + Spark 2 adapter) or a Spark 40 (using the DC Power Cable directly).
- USB-C Charge Out (5V / 2A) charges USB-C powered amps - Spark GO, MINI, and Pedal.
Can I control Spark CAB 2 from the Spark app?
No. Spark CAB 2 has no Spark app integration. All of its controls are on the rear panel. The Spark app connects to your Spark amp only.
I/O, Controls & Connectivity
What inputs and outputs does Spark CAB 2 have?
- 1 × 3.5mm dedicated stereo Spark Input
- 2 × mono XLR/TRS combo inputs
- 1 × mono XLR balanced output (for PA / FOH)
- 1 × USB-C port (charge out + firmware update)
- 1 × DC Out (powers Spark 2 / Spark 40)
- 1 × AC power input (100-240V universal)
What do the back panel controls do?
- Input Selector - switches between the 3.5mm Spark Input and the two XLR/TRS combo inputs.
- Speaker Volume - controls overall speaker loudness.
- Line Out Volume - independently controls the XLR line-out level; doesn't affect speaker volume.
- Contour Switch - boosts low and high frequencies to improve balance at low volumes; disengage at gig volume.
- Ground Lift Switch - reduces unwanted hum or noise.
- Power Switch - turns Spark CAB 2 on / off; also cuts DC Out and USB-C Charge Out.
Does the USB-C port support USB audio recording?
No. The USB-C port is only for charging USB-C powered devices and for firmware updates. It isn't a USB audio interface. If you need USB audio recording, use the USB connection on your Spark amp, or feed Spark CAB 2's XLR Balanced Output into an audio interface.
Is there a mute button on Spark CAB 2?
No dedicated mute button. To mute the speaker, turn the Speaker Volume knob fully down. The Line Out Volume operates independently, so the XLR Output continues to work.
