Overview
What's the difference between Spark LIVE and Spark CAB?
Spark LIVE is a complete 4-channel smart amp + PA system with amp modeling, effects, DSP, and the Spark app. Spark CAB is a passive full-range cabinet designed to extend a Spark amp's sound - no modeling, no DSP, no instrument preamp.
Pick Spark LIVE as a standalone amp / PA. Pick Spark CAB (or Spark CAB 2) when you already own a Spark amp (40, 2, MINI, GO, PEDAL) and want to extend its sound.
Do I need a Spark amp to play with Spark LIVE?
No. Spark LIVE is a complete standalone amplifier with its own amp models, effects, and DSP. You just plug in your instrument and go.
Spark LIVE also works as a PA for other sources (keyboards, mics via external preamp, line-level gear) through its multiple inputs.
What's the difference between vertical vs horizontal placement?
Spark LIVE can be placed either vertically (upright) or horizontally. Both orientations work acoustically. Horizontal placement angles the speakers upward for stage monitor use; vertical placement provides a more traditional PA / wedge projection.
Pick the orientation that fits your stage or room setup.

Can the Spark app's signal chain be applied to all inputs on Spark LIVE?
Only Input Channels 1 and 2 are compatible with the Spark app's signal chain and support built-in effects.
- Input Channel 1: The Spark app can fully control and save the entire signal chain.
- Input Channel 2: The Spark app can manage certain aspects of the signal chain. You can add preamps and effects for acoustic / bass / vocal use.
- Input Channels 3 & 4: Do NOT support built-in effects from the Spark app.
What is Sonic IQ and how does it improve the sound of Spark LIVE?
Sonic IQ is Spark LIVE's built-in room optimization feature. It analyzes the acoustic environment and tunes the output of Spark LIVE to match the room, delivering a cleaner, more consistent sound at any venue.
You can enable, disable, or re-calibrate Sonic IQ from the Spark app.
Inputs & Compatibility
What instruments can I use with Spark LIVE?
Spark LIVE has four inputs:
- Channels 1 & 2: XLR / 1/4" combo inputs
- Channels 3 (mono/L) & 4 (mono/R): Stereo-capable
This makes it compatible with guitars, basses, acoustic / electric instruments (with pickups), microphones, keyboards, and more.
Note: Spark LIVE does not provide phantom power. Condenser microphones require an external preamp with phantom power.
Does Spark LIVE come with phantom power?
No. Spark LIVE does not have +48V phantom power onboard.
To use a condenser microphone with Spark LIVE, you'll need an external preamp with phantom power.
I/O & Outputs
Will the main speaker be muted when the line out is connected?
No. The main speaker on Spark LIVE will not be muted when the Line Out is connected to a console, mixer, or other device. This lets you use Spark LIVE as your own stage monitor while sending signal to FOH.
You can also configure this behavior from the Spark app - see Control the main output mute / unmute behavior with the line out.
Are the inputs balanced or unbalanced?
- Input 1 & 2: Unbalanced inputs for guitar or bass, with balanced XLR for standard dynamic microphones.
- Input 3 & 4 (combo jack): Accept either 1/4" (6.3mm) or XLR connectors. 1/4" connections are unbalanced; XLR connections are balanced.
- Outputs on Spark LIVE: Balanced XLR Line Outs; unbalanced 1/4" alternative.
Accessories & Power
Can Spark LIVE be battery-powered?
Yes. Spark LIVE supports an optional Spark Battery (sold separately):
- Detachable rechargeable lithium battery
- Up to 10 hours of playtime at mid-volume
Does Spark LIVE come with a footswitch?

Spark LIVE is compatible with:
- Spark Control X (sold separately) - full standalone footswitch control without the Spark app
- Spark Control (sold separately) - connects via the Spark app
