NAM (Neural Amp Modeler) Loader

Learn how to load a Neural Amp Modeler (.nam) file into BIAS X using the new Neural Loader.

Requires BIAS X v1.3 or later. If you can't find Neural Loader in the amp list, open Settings (gear icon in the bottom left), select Information, and confirm the version is 1.3.0 or later.

Load a NAM File

  1. Open the Amp list. Double-click the amp in the signal chain, or click the Gear button on the top left.

Open the Amp list - double-click amp or click gear icon

  2. Scroll to the bottom of the Amp list, find Neural Amp, and select Neural Loader.

Scroll to Neural Amp - select Neural Loader

  3. Click Open on the Neural Loader head.

Click Open on the Neural Loader head

  4. Select the .nam file you'd like to apply.

Browse and select the .nam file

BIAS X loads the .nam file from its original path - it does not duplicate the file into the BIAS X folder. We strongly suggest keeping your .nam files organized in /Documents/PositiveGrid (or any folder you prefer). Once loaded, click the name of the .nam at any time to recall it.

  5. The .nam file is loaded - ready to play. BIAS X automatically detects the file type; you can also switch it manually.

Neural Loader Controls

Type (auto-selected, manually switchable)

BIAS X analyzes the .nam file and picks the best match from:

  • Amp
  • Amp + Cab
  • Pedal
  • Outboard
  • Experiment
  • NA

You can override the detected type manually at any time.

Gain Type

Auto-analyzed from the .nam capture - BIAS X determines the gain range so the amp block behaves predictably in the signal chain.

Tone Stack

Pick a tone stack that matches the character you want. You can switch it independently of the capture.

PRE / POST (EQ)

Place the EQ either before or after the neural capture to shape the input signal or the output.

Notes & Limitations

  • Use with other pedals. Neural Loader lives in the amp slot of the signal chain and works alongside any other BIAS X pedal / effect.
  • Absolute file path. The .nam file path is stored as an absolute reference. The file is not copied into the BIAS X folder - if you move or delete the .nam, BIAS X cannot find it. Keep your .nam files in a stable folder (recommended: /Documents/PositiveGrid).
BIAS AI does not recognize NAM files. AI tone creation (Text to Tone / Music to Tone / Image to Tone) will not reference or use any .nam captures you have loaded.
