What's Missing? Start Here
Before diving into specific fixes, identify what type of sound is missing from your Spark amp:
- No guitar sound (but Bluetooth/USB/AUX playback works) → No Guitar Sound
- No USB audio (music from computer not playing) → No USB Audio
- No Bluetooth audio (music from phone/tablet not playing) → No Bluetooth Audio
- No sound at all after a firmware update → No Sound After Firmware Update
No Guitar Sound
If your Spark amp plays Bluetooth/USB/AUX audio but produces no guitar sound, follow these steps:
-
Step 1: Test with a different guitar and cable
Try a different guitar and a different 1/4" instrument cable. This rules out a faulty instrument or cable — do not skip this step.
-
Step 2: Check the Guitar volume knob
Make sure the Guitar volume knob on Spark's top panel is turned up.
-
Step 3: Check the Noise Gate in the Spark app
If the Noise Gate is set too aggressively, it may cut off your guitar signal. Lower the threshold or turn it off temporarily.
-
Step 4: Try a factory preset
Switch to a factory preset in the Spark app to rule out a corrupted or muted custom preset.
If none of the above resolves the issue, please contact support.
No USB Audio
If music from your computer is not playing through Spark via USB, try these steps:
-
Step 1: Turn up the Music volume
Make sure the Music volume knob on Spark's top panel is turned up, and the volume on your computer and application is also turned up.
-
Step 2: Disconnect other audio sources
Audio priority is AUX > USB > Bluetooth. If an AUX cable is connected, it takes priority over USB. Disconnect unused audio sources.
-
Step 3: Install the Windows driver (Windows only)
Windows users must install Spark's audio driver. macOS does not require a separate driver.
-
Step 4: Try a different USB port and cable
Switch to another USB port and/or cable. Avoid using a USB hub if possible.
No Bluetooth Audio
If music from your phone or tablet is not playing through Spark via Bluetooth, try these steps:
-
Step 1: Turn up the Music volume
Make sure the Music volume knob on Spark's top panel is turned up.
-
Step 2: Turn up your device volume
Increase the volume on your smartphone/tablet and the app you are using.
-
Step 3: Disconnect other audio sources
Audio priority is AUX > USB > Bluetooth. If an AUX or USB cable is connected, Bluetooth audio will not play.
-
Step 4: Remove Bluetooth interference
Close background apps on your device. Turn off Bluetooth on nearby devices (Bluetooth speakers, Apple Watch, etc.) that may cause interference.
-
Step 5: Try a different device
If possible, test with a different iOS or Android device to determine if the issue is device-specific.
No Sound After Firmware Update
If your Spark amp has no sound after a firmware update, the update may not have completed properly.
-
Step 1: Reinstall the firmware
Run the firmware update again. At the end of the process, click the Eject button and unplug the USB cable before turning off the amp.
-
Step 2: Perform a factory reset
Complete a factory reset. Be sure to back up your presets in the Spark app first.
Still No Sound? Try a Factory Reset
If none of the above sections resolved your issue, a factory reset can often resolve unexpected behavior. Back up your presets before proceeding.
If the problem persists after a factory reset, please contact support with a description of your issue.
