How to Bypass macOS Security Warnings

If you encounter a security warning when trying to open a Spark amp's Firmware Updater on your Mac, please rest assured that the updater is completely safe and is exclusively designed for updating your Spark amp's firmware. Follow the steps below to bypass macOS security warnings and successfully launch the updater.

Note: The updater used in this guide is for demonstration purposes only. Please ensure that you are using the correct firmware updater for your specific Spark amp model.

1. Open the Firmware Updater

  • Locate the firmware updater file on your Mac.
  • Right-click (or Control + click) on the updater and choose "Open" from the dropdown menu.

2. Dismiss the Initial Security Warning

  • If you receive an error message stating that the app "cannot be opened because it is from an unidentified developer," click OK to close the message.
  • Repeat Step 1 (Right-click > Open) again.

3. Allow the App in System Preferences

  • If the updater still doesn’t open, go to System Settings (or System Preferences for older macOS versions).
  • Navigate to Privacy & Security in the left panel.
  • Scroll down to find a message saying "Spark Firmware Updater was blocked from use because it is not from an identified developer."
  • Click on "Open Anyway."

Tip: Ensuring that "Allow applications downloaded from App Store and identified developers" is selected in this panel may also help.

4. Confirm and Open the Updater

  • When prompted, enter your Mac administrator password and click "Open."

5. Proceed with the Firmware Update

  • Follow the on-screen instructions provided by the firmware updater to complete the update process for your Spark amp.
