Backup and Reset BIAS AMP 2 (Windows)

If you're experiencing launch issues with BIAS AMP 2 Desktop on your Windows computer, performing a reset while backing up your existing user data can often resolve these problems.

This guide walks you through resetting BIAS AMP 2 Desktop on Windows, while safely backing up your existing data in case you need to restore it later.

Before You Begin

  • Please make sure to close BIAS AMP 2 Desktop before proceeding. This ensures that no data is being written to the configuration files while you're making changes.

  • If you have any cloud-based folder syncing services enabled, we highly recommend disabling them while using BIAS AMP 2. Crash-related issues often arise when these services overwrite or corrupt BIAS AMP 2's system files in the user folder.

Step 1. Backup the User Data Folder

  1. Open File Explorer.

  2. Navigate to the following directory:

    Documents\PositiveGrid

  3. Inside this folder, locate the folder named BIAS_Amp2.

  4. Right-click on the folder and select Rename.

  5. Rename it to: BIAS_Amp2 backup

This preserves your user presets, amp models, and settings in case you need to restore them later.

Step 2. Delete the Settings File

  1. Press Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog.

  2. Type the following path into the input box and press Enter:

    %APPDATA%\PositiveGrid\

  3. In the window that opens, locate the file named BIAS_Amp2.settings

  4. Right-click on the file and select Delete.

⚠️ Note: The %APPDATA% folder is hidden by default on Windows. If you can’t find it, refer to this guide from Microsoft on how to show hidden files and folders.

Step 3. Restart and Log In

  1. Launch the BIAS AMP 2 application again.

  2. You’ll be prompted to log in with your Positive Grid account.

  3. Once logged in, the application will recreate fresh configuration and settings files.

You're All Set!

Your BIAS AMP 2 Desktop has now been reset. Any previously saved user data is still stored in the BIAS_Amp2 backup folder and can be renamed back to BIAS_Amp2 if needed to restore your previously saved presets.
