If your Spark GO is powered on but you are not getting any sound, follow the steps below to identify the cause and restore normal audio output.
Before You Begin
- Confirm the Spark GO is powered on (Power LED is solid green or solid red).
- Open the Spark app on your phone or tablet and confirm it is connected to the Spark GO via Bluetooth.
Check Volume and Output
Turn up the Guitar Volume knob and the Music Volume buttons (+/-) on the Spark GO. Also check that your guitar's own volume knob is turned up.
The Spark GO speaker mutes automatically when headphones or a line-out cable is plugged into the 1/8" Headphone/Line Out jack. Unplug any cable from this jack and test again.
If you still have no sound, determine which audio is missing:
- Guitar sound only — You can hear Bluetooth music, but no guitar signal.
- Music playback only — Guitar works fine, but Bluetooth or USB audio is silent.
- All sound — No guitar sound and no music playback at all.
Diagnose the Source
Use the following diagnostic checks to isolate the problem:
- Play Bluetooth audio and check the main speaker. If Bluetooth audio plays through the speaker, the speaker is working. The issue is likely a defective input — contact Positive Grid Support.
- Plug in headphones and check headphone output. If you hear sound through headphones but not through the speaker, the issue is likely a defective main speaker — contact Positive Grid Support.
- No sound from both speaker and headphones — the issue is likely caused by the cable, instrument, or preset. Continue to the next section.
No Guitar Sound
If only the guitar signal is missing:
- Try a different instrument cable. A faulty cable is the most common cause.
- Try a different guitar. This rules out a pickup or electronics issue on the instrument.
- If you use active pickups, check that the battery is not dead.
If the issue persists after testing with a different cable and a different guitar, the input jack may be defective. Contact Positive Grid Support for further assistance.
No Music Playback
The Spark GO follows this music input priority:
Bluetooth Audio > USB Audio
- When Bluetooth Audio is connected and playing, the Spark GO will not appear as a USB audio interface on your computer, or it may disappear during use.
- To use USB audio, disconnect Bluetooth Audio first by turning off Bluetooth on your phone or unpairing the device.
If you are on macOS 26 and experiencing USB audio input issues, see How to Fix Spark GO USB Audio Input Issue on macOS 26.
Force Shutdown and Restart
If none of the above resolves the issue, perform a force shutdown:
- Remove the USB cable from the Spark GO.
- Press and hold the Power/Pair button for over 10 seconds until the unit powers off.
- Release the button, then press and hold it again until the Power LED lights up blue.
Factory Reset
If the problem persists, perform a factory reset. This will erase all saved presets and Bluetooth pairing data, so back up your presets in the Spark app first.
- Turn off the Spark GO.
- Press and hold the Power/Pair button and the Preset button simultaneously.
- Release both buttons when the Power LED turns white.
- Press and hold the Preset button until all four Preset LEDs blink once, then release.
- The Spark GO will turn off automatically. Turn it back on to complete the reset.
