No Sound - Troubleshooting Guide

Start with the general self-check below. If the issue persists, find your product for dedicated troubleshooting.

Hardware General Self-Check & Troubleshooting

Before contacting support or following product-specific steps, run through this checklist to quickly identify and resolve common issues. These steps apply to all Positive Grid hardware products.

  1. Headphone Test — Main Speaker
Without changing your current setup, plug in headphones to quickly determine whether the issue is isolated to the main speaker.
  2. Signal Chain — Guitar / Cable
Make sure the guitar volume knob is turned up and the cable is functioning properly. Make sure to check your active pickup battery status.
  3. Signal Chain — Amp Controls
Ensure Gain, Master, and Guitar controls are turned up. It is recommended to start with all controls set to mid-level.
  4. Mute Mode — Device Mute Status
Spark NEO and Spark LINK have a dedicated mute mode. Check that the device is not muted via LED indicators or the app.
  5. Headphone Mode — Speaker Mute Behavior
When headphones are connected, the main speaker output on Spark amps will be muted.
  6. Line Out — Line Output Behavior
On Spark 2, Spark LIVE, and Spark EDGE, connecting to the Line Out jack mutes the main speaker by default. This can be changed in the Spark app to allow simultaneous output.
  7. Factory Reset — Hardware Reset
If none of the above resolves the issue, perform a factory reset. This will erase all saved presets, so back them up via the app first. This step helps rule out preset or firmware-related issues causing no sound.
