AI Features & Creator Hub

How does REACTOR create tones?

REACTOR creates tones by turning your input into a complete amp and effects setup you can play immediately.

You start by providing an input:

  • Describing a sound (Text to Tone)
  • Playing or uploading audio (Audio to Tone)
  • Using an image (Image to Tone)

REACTOR then analyzes and generates:

  • An amp configuration (gain structure, EQ, response, feel)
  • A matching effects chain (drive, modulation, delay, reverb)
  • An optimized signal chain order and levels

All of this is created automatically in seconds and loaded directly into the amp.

From there, you can refine the tone by describing changes ("more gain," "less bass") or adjusting controls manually — REACTOR updates the existing tone dynamically.

How does Text to Tone work?

Describe the sound you want in natural language, and REACTOR turns it into a complete, playable tone.

Example prompts:

  • "Warm blues with edge"
  • "Tight modern rhythm"
  • "Ambient clean with long reverb"

REACTOR interprets your input and generates an amp configuration and effects chain to match — including gain, EQ, drive, modulation, delay, and reverb.

You can describe tone the way you hear it, then refine further: "less bass," "more gain," "brighter."

How does Audio to Tone work?

Take a sound you like — from a song, a recording, or anything you're listening to — and turn it into something you can play.

How it works:

  1. REACTOR listens to the audio
  2. Analyzes the guitar tone (gain level, EQ shape, effects used)
  3. Builds a matching amp and effects setup
  4. Loads it instantly

If you hear a tone in a song and think "that's exactly what I want," REACTOR gives you a playable version in seconds — which you can then refine to fit your own style.

How does Image to Tone work?

Start from a visual idea instead of a sound. Take or upload a photo — a pedalboard, an amp setup, a stage, or even something abstract — and REACTOR turns it into a playable tone.

Examples:

  • A rig you see at a show
  • A stage aesthetic you like
  • A mood or vibe you want to explore

REACTOR analyzes the visual elements and translates them into an amp and effects setup, giving you a tone to start from.

Can I refine tones?

Yes. Once a tone is created, you can keep shaping it without starting over.

Two ways to refine:

Method How
Describe changes "More gain," "less bass," "brighter"
Manual adjustment Use amp and effect controls

REACTOR updates the existing tone while preserving its character, so you can quickly move toward the sound you have in mind.

Can I still fine-tune tones manually?

Yes. You can use:

  • Onboard controls — Gain, Bass, Mid, Treble, Master, FX Level
  • REACTOR App — Full signal chain editing, detailed parameters

AI creation and manual tweaking work together seamlessly.

Can I create custom amps?

Yes. REACTOR allows you to create your own amp configurations:

  1. Generate an amp using Text to Tone, Audio to Tone, or Image to Tone
  2. Refine it by adjusting gain structure, EQ, and feel
  3. Combine with your preferred effects chain
  4. Save as a custom amp or preset
  5. Share on ToneCloud

You're not limited to fixed models — create and share your own.

Is AI Learn tied to my account? Can I reset it?

Yes. AI Learn — the personalized tone-recommendation engine behind Amp Intelligence — is bound to your Positive Grid account, so your learned preferences carry across devices when you sign in.

You can reset AI Learn at any time from your account settings in the REACTOR App.

Can I use Tone Capture on apps like Apple Music that block screen capture?

No. Tone Capture relies on routing audio from your device, which is blocked by apps that prevent screen capture or audio routing for DRM reasons (such as Apple Music).

For Tone Capture to work, use audio from sources without DRM restrictions, or play the audio out loud from a separate device and let REACTOR pick it up via its built-in mic.

Are Spark and REACTOR ToneCloud the same?

No. Spark and REACTOR have separate ToneCloud libraries.

  • Spark presets are not compatible with REACTOR
  • REACTOR presets are not compatible with Spark

Each product line has its own dedicated community and preset format.

Can I back up my presets?

There is currently no dedicated preset backup feature. To preserve presets, upload them to your Positive Grid account via ToneCloud — private uploads stay accessible from any device signed in to your account.

If I Overwrite a preset, will the preset image, Gain Stage, and tags also change?

No. Overwriting a preset saves the new tone parameters into the existing slot but preserves the preset's image, Gain Stage, and tags.

If you want to change those metadata fields too, use Save as new instead — that creates a new preset where you can edit image, Gain Stage, and tags freely.

Why does the app take a long time to sync with REACTOR?

When you've modified onboard presets, the REACTOR App syncs them back so the app and amp stay in sync. The app shows a progress bar during this sync.

Can I customize my preset library or rearrange the preset bank?

Yes. Long-press any preset to access options including Edit, Move (to a different folder), Duplicate, Upload to ToneCloud, Assign to a REACTOR amp slot, and Delete.

You can also create folders from the ellipsis menu to organize presets however you like.

Can I have two Overdrives or two Delays in the signal chain at the same time?

No. Each preset's signal chain allows one block per effect type — one Drive, one Delay, one Modulation, and so on. For more complex chains, use the FX Loop to insert external pedals.
