No Sound Troubleshooting for Spark PEDAL

If your Spark PEDAL is powered on but you are not getting any sound, follow the steps below to identify the cause and restore normal audio output.

Make sure your firmware is up to date. Open the Spark app, connect to Spark PEDAL, and check for available updates on the Device Card.

Before You Begin

  • Confirm Spark PEDAL is powered on and the Power Indicator is lit.
  • Open the Spark app on your phone or tablet and confirm it is connected to Spark PEDAL via Bluetooth.

Check Output Routing

Spark PEDAL routes audio to L/MONO & R line outputs and the headphone output — there is no internal speaker.

  • Confirm your monitoring device (PA, powered speaker, headphones, or audio interface) is connected to the correct output and powered on.
  • Turn up the MAIN KNOB on Spark PEDAL.
  • Check that the connected device's volume is not muted or at zero.
  • Verify your guitar's own volume knob is turned up.

If you still have no sound, determine which audio is missing:

  • Guitar sound only — Bluetooth music plays, but no guitar signal.
  • Music playback only — Guitar works, but Bluetooth or USB audio is silent.
  • All sound — Neither guitar nor music playback.

No Guitar Sound

If only the guitar signal is missing:

  1. Try a different instrument cable. A faulty cable is the most common cause.
  2. Try a different guitar. This rules out a pickup or electronics issue on the instrument.
  3. If you use active pickups, check that the battery in your guitar is not dead.
  4. Confirm you are in the correct mode on Spark PEDAL and the current preset is not fully bypassed.

If the issue persists after testing with a different cable and a different guitar, the input jack may be defective. Contact Positive Grid Support for further assistance.

No Music Playback

Spark PEDAL supports music playback via Bluetooth Audio and USB Audio.

Spark PEDAL follows this Digital Audio Input Priority:

USB Audio > Bluetooth Audio

See Digital Audio Input Priority for details.

  • When USB is connected to a computer for audio interface use, Bluetooth music playback may be disabled. Disconnect USB if you want to stream music via Bluetooth.
  • Verify that your source device (phone/computer) has audio routed to Spark PEDAL and is not muted.

Force Shutdown and Restart

If none of the above resolves the issue, perform a force shutdown:

  1. Press and hold the Power button for 10 seconds or more until Spark PEDAL powers off.
  2. Wait a few seconds, then press the Power button to turn it back on.

For full instructions, see Force Shutdown & Restart for Spark PEDAL.

Factory Reset

If the problem persists, perform a factory reset. This will erase all saved presets and Bluetooth pairing data, so back up your presets in the Spark app first.

For full instructions, see Factory Reset.

If you still have no sound after completing all the steps above, please contact Positive Grid Support with a description of the issue and any troubleshooting you have already tried.
