Firmware Update

← Back to Spark CAB 2 User Guide

Spark CAB 2 ships with the latest firmware pre-installed. No firmware update is currently required, and no new firmware has been released yet.

Positive Grid periodically releases firmware updates for Spark CAB 2 to improve performance. Updates are installed from a USB-C flash drive.

Updating Spark CAB 2

  1. Visit the Positive Grid Help Center Download page and download the latest Spark CAB 2 firmware file.
  2. Copy the firmware file to your USB-C flash drive.
  3. Plug one end of the included 3.5mm Stereo Audio Cable into the Spark Input on the rear panel. The other end can be left unconnected.
  4. With Spark CAB 2 powered off, plug the USB drive into the USB-C Port on the rear panel.
  5. Power on Spark CAB 2 using the Power Switch. The firmware update begins automatically on boot.
  6. Watch the red LED next to the USB-C port. Do not power off Spark CAB 2 or remove the USB drive while the LED is blinking.
  7. When the update is complete, the LED stays solid for 10 seconds, then turns off. Spark CAB 2 is ready to use.

If the Update Fails

If the LED fast-blinks (update failure):

  1. Power off Spark CAB 2.
  2. Remove the USB drive and check on your computer that the firmware file is intact and matches the version listed on positivegrid.com. Re-download if needed.
  3. Re-insert the USB drive and power on Spark CAB 2 to retry.

If the update still fails after retrying, contact our support team via the Help Center.
