Positive Grid periodically releases firmware updates for Spark CAB 2 to improve performance. Updates are installed from a USB-C flash drive.
Updating Spark CAB 2
- Visit the Positive Grid Help Center Download page and download the latest Spark CAB 2 firmware file.
- Copy the firmware file to your USB-C flash drive.
- Plug one end of the included 3.5mm Stereo Audio Cable into the Spark Input on the rear panel. The other end can be left unconnected.
- With Spark CAB 2 powered off, plug the USB drive into the USB-C Port on the rear panel.
- Power on Spark CAB 2 using the Power Switch. The firmware update begins automatically on boot.
- Watch the red LED next to the USB-C port. Do not power off Spark CAB 2 or remove the USB drive while the LED is blinking.
- When the update is complete, the LED stays solid for 10 seconds, then turns off. Spark CAB 2 is ready to use.

If the Update Fails
If the LED fast-blinks (update failure):
- Power off Spark CAB 2.
- Remove the USB drive and check on your computer that the firmware file is intact and matches the version listed on positivegrid.com. Re-download if needed.
- Re-insert the USB drive and power on Spark CAB 2 to retry.
If the update still fails after retrying, contact our support team via the Help Center.
