Q: Where can I buy BIAS Head/Rack?
Q: What’s the difference between the silver model and the black model of BIAS Head/Rack?
A: The only difference between the two models is that the silver version features a power amp, where the black version is an amp processor. Both versions also share the same DSP engine.
Q: Does BIAS Head/Rack comes with any built-in effects?
Q: Can I get a redeem code for BIAS Amp iOS version on App Store?
A: BIAS AMP 2 iPhone & iPad are downloadable from the App Store as freemium apps. The full BIAS AMP 2 mobile functionality can be unlocked by completing the hardware registration/activation process within BIAS AMP 2 mobile apps, no redeem code needed.
Q: I don’t have the redeem code for my BIAS Head/Rack series, what can I do?
A: Every unit comes with a redeem card for BIAS Amp Professional (desktop only). If you can’t find the redeem card inside the box, or you have problems redeeming the code, please open a support ticket at: https://help.positivegrid.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
and send us a copy of the receipt.
Q: I purchased it used through a local music shop, do I need to buy the BIAS Amp software?
A: We are not able to transfer the license from the previous owner to you due to our software license policy. You will need to purchase the BIAS Amp Professional (desktop) if the software license was already claimed by the previous owner.
Q: What MIDI foot-switch do you recommend to use with the BIAS Head/Rack?
A: BIAS Head/Rack is compatible with both MIDI PC/CC signals, which means you are able to change presets through MIDI PC signal as well as adjusting knob values via MIDI CC signal with your MIDI footswitch.
Please refer to the manual for further details.
Q: What type of footswitch do you recommend for BIAS Head/Rack? What is I2C Pedal?
A: The #1/EXP.jack on the BIAS Head/Rack series is only compatible with BIAS Footswitch pedal. BIAS Footswitch works with FOOTSWITCH jack #1/EXP. PEDAL jack#1 on BIAS Head/Rack.
Please note that BIAS Footswitch is not compatible with FOOTSWITCH jack 2/EXP. PEDAL jack#2.
The #2 EXP. jack on the BIAS Head/Rack series is for most one button latch-type footswitches.
The following footswitch types have been reported by our users to work with the BIAS Head/Rack.
1.One button latch-type footswitches, such as Boss FS-5L.
2.Expression pedals, such as the Roland EV-7, EV-5 & Korg EXP-2, Hotone Soul Press, etc.
Q: Could the built-in 600W amplifier damage my guitar speaker cabinet?
A: BIAS Head and BIAS Rack provide 600 Watts of power at 8 Ohms and 300 Watts of power at 16 Ohms. Please use the 600 Watts power amp carefully and don’t turn the volume all the way up to avoid the risk of damaging your hearing. Also, please DO NOT connect the unit to a powered speaker or grounded equipment such as effect units (pedals), DI boxes, audio interface or mixers, as it might cause serious damage to the unit.
Q: Which impedance speakers do I need to work with my BIAS Head/Rack?
A: Since BIAS Head and BIAS Rack come with the Class-D amplification, technically you can connect it through any 4/8/16 Ohm cabinet. For guitar players, we recommend pairing it with 8 Ohm cabinets. For bass players, we recommend 4 Ohm cabinets for better low-end quality. Also, unlike traditional Class A or AB amplifiers, there’s no need to let all the output devices conducting at all time. You can use line output or any outputs separately without connecting to the speaker output.
Please ensure that your chosen cabinet can match the poweramp of the BIAS Head/Rack.
Q: How do I connect my FX pedals using the FX loop?
A: Before working with the Effect Loop, please make sure you have read up on the Serial and Parallel modes we have included in the UTILITY SWITCHES/F2 Switch-Serial & Parallel Modes section.
The Effect Loop is designed for users who want to put their effect units AFTER the preamp. To use the Effect Loop on the rear of your BIAS GEAR, please follow these steps.
1.Please select either Serial or Parallel Mode by flicking Utility Switch F2.
2.Use two mono TRS 1/4” cables with the right cable length to connect your external unit.
3.Connect Send to the input jack of effect unit.
4.Connect the output jack of the effects unit to the Return of the BIAS GEAR.
Q: How do I connect the BIAS FX software to BIAS Head/Rack?
A: Since BIAS Head doesn't come with any built-in effects, you can still use your existing overdrive/distortion pedals (let's say a dynamic one) in front of it, or route the reverb/delay/phaser (modulation) to the FX loop of the BIAS Head/Rack.
Please follow these steps.
1. Connect your iPad or computer with an audio interface for sending signals out from BIAS FX to the BIAS Head/Rack.
2. BIAS FX software already comes with preamp/power amp simulations, so it will be better to turn off the simulations for better performance.
3. Connect Send of BIAS Head/Rack to the input jack of the audio interface.
4. Connect the output jack of the audio interface to the Return of the BIAS Head/Rack.
Q: Can I use the SEND-Output (FX Loop) to connect a tube power amp without connecting to guitar cabinet?A: Sure, the 'SEND-Outputs' acts like 'Line Outputs' of the unit. You can route it to any power amp for a more realistic tube sound. Also, there are 2 CAB-SIM statuses for you to select from. Please refer to the tutorial below:
