Spark LIVE Firmware Update

We highly recommend updating your amplifier's firmware to the latest version to access the newest features and enhancements for the Spark LIVE.

 

*This firmware updater will also address the issue that users encounter with the serial number display in the Spark app. Please update the firmware before registering the Spark LIVE.

⚠This firmware is for Spark LIVE ONLY.

Using this updater with any other Spark model such as Spark 40, Spark MINI, or Spark GO may result in potential damage to your amplifier. Ensure that you are using the correct updater for your device to avoid any risks or issues.

 

 

System Requirement:

macOS 11 or later / Windows 10 or later.

The updater does NOT run on Linux, ChromeOS, iOS, iPadOS, Android, or any other systems.

Instructions:

This firmware is essential for the core features and MUST be updated via a USB cable. It doesn't support the OTA (over-the-air) feature, meaning you cannot update it via Wi-Fi on the Spark LIVE.

 

*Before starting the process, back up your custom presets to the ToneCloud, Spark App, or your Dropbox account before you proceed with the firmware update.

 

If you receive a notification to register your Spark LIVE before updating its firmware, please ensure you register the Spark LIVE before attempting to connect it to the Spark app.

 

You will need the following items during the firmware updater:

- USB Cable (We highly recommend using the one that comes with the Spark LIVE)
- The power Core for Spark LIVE
- Computer (macOS or Windows)
- Firmware Updater for Spark LIVE

 

 

1. Download the firmware updater and unzip/extract the file.

2. Launch Spark LIVE firmware updater.

Please rest assured that the firmware updater is completely secure and designed exclusively for updating your Spark amp's firmware. Our product team is aware of this issue and is working to provide the best experience in the future. In the meantime, you can manually force the update by following the steps below:

 

*For Mac users, please right-click on the Spark LIVE Firmware Updater and select "Open".

 

 

 

 

 

*For Windows users, please right-click on the "Spark Live firmware Updater.bat" and select "Run as Administrator" to proceed. Do not run the updater in the zip.

 

 

 

 

3. Plug in the power cord and turn on the Spark LIVE. Connect your Spark LIVE to your computer using the supplied USB cable.
*Please make sure the power cord is connected to the Spark LIVE during the firmware update process, even if the Spark Battery is installed.

*Ensure you connect the Spark LIVE to the computer via the AUDIO/DATA port.

 

 

4. Wait for a moment, and the updater will display the device type (which should be Spark LIVE) and the version to install.

5. Click "Update Wireless Module," and the updater will proceed to update the wireless module on the Spark LIVE.

6. To update the MCU (microcontroller unit), simultaneously press and hold the power button and the pair button until the power LED lights up in white.

7. Wait for a moment, and the updater will display the device type and the version to install.

 

 

8. Click "Update MCU," and the updater will proceed to update the MCU on the Spark LIVE.

 

 

 

9. Done! You can now quit the updater, power up your Spark LIVE, and you are ready to rock!

10. You can also check the firmware version of the Spark LIVE by clicking the product card.

Troubleshooting

Q: My computer does not detect Spark LIVE.
A: Please attempt to connect to a different USB port directly on the rear of your computer and refrain from using a USB hub.

 

Q: After the firmware update, Spark LIVE cannot be connected via Bluetooth.
A: Navigate to the Bluetooth settings of your device, unpair or forget the previous connection with Spark LIVE Audio, and then open the Spark app to connect Tone Control before connecting Spark LIVE Audio.

 

Q: The firmware update failed, I can't power on the Spark LIVE anymore.
A: If the power to the Spark LIVE is interrupted during the MCU update process, the update will fail and the device will not be able to power on. Please follow these steps to resolve the issue and continue the update process:

 

1. Disconnect the Spark LIVE from the computer by unplugging the USB cable.

2. Download the alternative firmware updater from the links below:

macOS

 

Windows

 

3. Unzip and launch the alternative firmware updater.

For macOS users:

Unzip the updater file, then right-click and select 'Open' to launch it.

 

For Windows users:

Unzip the updater file, then right-click and select 'Run as administrator' to launch it.

 

 

4. Connect the Spark LIVE to the computer via the USB cable and follow the steps within the alternative updater.
