Spark LIVE Firmware Update (Video Tutorial)

Through our ongoing pursuit of the perfect tone, you’ll enjoy significantly improved sound flexibility with DSP improvement and other various fixes with this firmware update.

We highly recommend updating your amplifier's firmware to the latest version to access the newest features and enhancements for Spark LIVE.

This firmware updater will also address the issue that users encounter with the serial number displayed in the Spark app. Please update the firmware before registering the Spark LIVE.

Spark LIVE Firmware Updater

This firmware is for Spark LIVE ONLY.

Using this updater with any other Spark model such as Spark (40), Spark MINI, Spark GO, Spark EDGE, Spark 2, or Spark NEO may result in potential damage to your amplifier. Ensure that you are using the correct updater for your device to avoid any risks or issues.
System Requirement: macOS 11 or later / Windows 10 or later.
The updater does NOT run on Linux, ChromeOS, iOS, iPadOS, Android, or any other systems.

Instructions

Before starting the process
  1. Back up your custom presets to the ToneCloud, Spark App, or your Dropbox account before you proceed with the firmware update.

Please be informed:
This firmware is essential for the core features and MUST be updated via a USB cable. It doesn't support the OTA (over-the-air) feature, meaning you cannot update it via Wi-Fi on Spark LIVE.
  • Make sure the Spark LIVE is not connected to any other devices via Bluetooth.
  • Make sure the Spark LIVE is not connected to the computer via a USB cable.
  1. Download and unzip/extract the Spark LIVE firmware updater to your computer.

  2. Launch the firmware updater:

    • For Mac users, please right-click on the Spark Firmware Updater and select "Open".


    • For Windows users, you can do either of the following:
      • Double-click on Spark LIVE Firmware Updater.bat to start the updater.

      • Right-click on Spark LIVE Firmware Updater.bat and select "Run as administrator" to start the updater.
    If you are unable to launch the firmware updater, please refer to the guide on "Open a Mac app from an unknown developer" or "Run a BAT File on Windows".
    Rest assured, this updater is specifically designed to update your Spark amp. It is completely safe, clean, and free from viruses.
  3. Wait for a moment, and the updater will display the device type (which should be Spark LIVE) and the version to install.

  4. Click "Update Wireless Module," and the updater will proceed to update the wireless module on the Spark LIVE.

    Do not disconnect the USB cable or turn off your Spark LIVE/computer while updating.
  5. To update the MCU (microcontroller unit), simultaneously press and hold the power button and the pair button until the power LED lights up in white. Then click "Next".

  6. Wait for a moment, and the updater will display the device type and the version to install. Click "Update MCU".

  7. The updater will proceed to update the MCU on the Spark LIVE.

    Do not disconnect the USB cable or turn off your Spark LIVE/computer while updating.
  8. Done! You can now quit the updater, power up your Spark LIVE, and you are ready to rock!

    If attempts to update the firmware keep failing, please try to update the firmware with a different computer. 
    Also, try resetting your Spark amp to factory default before the next attempt.
  9. You can also check the firmware version of the Spark LIVE by clicking on the product card when it's connected to the Spark app.image (2).png
