Bluetooth Connection Troubleshooting for Spark 2

1. Confirm Bluetooth is on on your phone.
2. Check the Spark app has Bluetooth permission (see Bluetooth permission is blocked if you're not sure).
3. Make sure Spark 2 is powered on and in pairing mode (Bluetooth LED breathing) - if not, press the PAIR button on the rear panel briefly.
4. Close the Spark app completely from your phone's app switcher, then reopen and tap Connect.
5. If still no result, restart Bluetooth on your phone (toggle off/on) and try again.

The most common cause: you held the PAIR button too long and Spark 2 entered Spark Control X pairing mode instead.

1. Check the LED behavior on Spark 2 after pressing PAIR:
   • Only the Bluetooth LED breathing = correct Audio pairing mode.
     
   • Both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi LEDs breathing together = Spark Control X pair mode. Spark 2 Audio will NOT appear.
     
2. If you entered Spark Control X mode by mistake, briefly tap PAIR again to exit, wait a few seconds, then tap PAIR briefly (not hold) to enter Bluetooth Audio pairing mode.
3. If "Spark 2 Audio" still doesn't appear, perform a factory reset for Spark 2 and retry.

Old pairing state can block reconnection. Forget the device on both sides, then re-pair:

1. On your phone's Bluetooth settings, find Spark 2 Audio and tap Forget or Unpair:

2. In the Spark app, open the Menu tab, select the Spark 2 device card, then tap Forget this device:

   

3. Close the Spark app completely, reboot Spark 2, then re-pair using the guides in Audio vs Tone Control.

1. Stay within Bluetooth range (~10 m / 30 ft) of Spark 2. Walls, floors, and metal shelving weaken the signal significantly.
2. Move away from 2.4 GHz interference sources: Wi-Fi routers, microwaves, cordless phones, and other Bluetooth devices in active use.
3. Turn off unused Bluetooth devices near you (headphones, other speakers) - each active pairing competes for the channel.
4. Toggle Bluetooth off and on on your phone to clear stuck state.
5. If disconnections persist, forget the device on both sides (see Can't reconnect) and re-pair.

The initial handshake between the app and Spark 2 usually takes a few seconds. If it hangs:

1. Wait 10-15 seconds before assuming it failed.
2. Restart the Spark app: swipe it away from your app switcher, reopen, tap Connect.
3. Power cycle Spark 2:
   • Hold the Power button for 10 seconds to force shutdown.
   • Wait a few seconds, then press Power to turn back on.
4. Try connecting again from a clean state.

If the Spark app can't scan for Bluetooth devices, the OS may be blocking permission. Enable it here:

• iOS / iPadOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Bluetooth → enable Spark.
• Android: Settings → Apps → Spark → Permissions → enable Bluetooth and Nearby devices (or Location on older Android versions).

After enabling permissions, restart the Spark app and try connecting again.

Spark 2 has two independent Bluetooth connections - you need to pair each one separately.

• Bluetooth Audio - music streaming, paired from your phone's Bluetooth settings. → Bluetooth Connection (Bluetooth Audio)
• Tone Control - Spark app tone editing, paired from inside the Spark app. → Pair Spark 2 with the Spark App (Tone Control)

If one is working and the other isn't, follow the corresponding guide above to pair the missing connection. Both can be active at the same time.
