If your Spark 2 is powered on but you are not getting any sound, follow the steps below to identify the cause and restore normal audio output.
Before You Begin
- Confirm the Spark 2 is powered on and the Power LED is lit red.
- Open the Spark app on your phone or tablet and confirm it is connected to the Spark 2 via Bluetooth.
Check Volume and Output
Turn up the Guitar knob and the Music knob on the Spark 2 top panel. Also check that your guitar's own volume knob is turned up and verify the Gain and Master controls are not set to zero.
The Spark 2 main speaker mutes automatically when headphones or a line-out cable is plugged into the Headphone Out or Line Out jacks. Unplug any headphones or cables from these jacks and test again.
If you still have no sound, determine which audio is missing:
- Guitar sound only — You can hear Bluetooth music or Aux-in audio, but no guitar signal.
- Music playback only — Guitar works fine, but Bluetooth, USB, or Aux-in audio is silent.
- All sound — No guitar sound and no music playback at all.
No Guitar Sound
If only the guitar signal is missing:
- Try a different instrument cable. A faulty cable is the most common cause.
- Try a different guitar. This rules out a pickup or electronics issue on the instrument.
- If you use active pickups, check that the battery is not dead.
If the issue persists after testing with a different cable and a different guitar, the input jack may be defective. Contact Positive Grid Support for further assistance.
No Music Playback
The Spark 2 follows this music input priority:
AUX In > Bluetooth Audio > USB Audio
- When an AUX cable is plugged in, Bluetooth audio is still active but USB audio may not play through the speaker as expected.
- When USB is connected to a computer, Bluetooth music playback is disabled. Disconnect USB if you want to stream music via Bluetooth.
- If you are not hearing AUX audio, note that the AUX input is stereo — a mono signal will only play through the left speaker.
Disconnect any AUX cables or USB connections you do not need, then test playback again.
Force Shutdown and Restart
If none of the above resolves the issue, perform a force shutdown:
- Press and hold the Power Button for 10 seconds or more until the Spark 2 powers off.
- Wait a few seconds, then press the Power Button to turn it back on.
For full instructions, see Force Shutdown / Restart for Spark 2.
Factory Reset
If the problem persists, perform a factory reset. This will erase all saved presets and Bluetooth pairing data, so back up your presets in the Spark app first.
- Connect the Spark 2 to its power supply and make sure it is powered off.
- Press and hold the Preset Knob and the Power Button simultaneously.
- Release both when the Battery LED turns white.
- Press and hold the Power Button again until all four Preset LEDs blink twice, then release.
- The Spark 2 will power off. Turn it back on to complete the reset.
