Spark PEDAL Firmware Update (USB)

Use this offline method when Wi-Fi isn't available, or when troubleshooting an OTA update. When a firmware update is released, you can install it via USB using the Spark PEDAL Firmware Updater.

Before You Begin

1. Update the Spark app to the latest version.
2. Back up your customized presets. See Backup & Restore Tone Presets.
3. Make sure Spark PEDAL has enough battery, or keep the USB-C power cable connected during the update.

Offline Update

System Requirements: macOS 11 or later / Windows 10 or later.
The updater does NOT run on Linux, ChromeOS, iOS, iPadOS, Android, or any other systems.

1. Download and unzip/extract the Spark PEDAL firmware updater to your computer.
2. Launch the firmware updater:
   • For Mac users: right-click on the Spark PEDAL Firmware Updater and select Open.
   • For Windows users: double-click Spark PEDAL Firmware Updater.bat, or right-click and select Run as administrator.
   If you're unable to launch the updater, see Open a Mac app from an unknown developer or Run a BAT File on Windows. The updater is safe and virus-free.

3. Connect Spark PEDAL to your computer using a USB-C cable. Make sure Spark PEDAL is powered on.
4. Click Next in the updater. It will detect Spark PEDAL and display the version to install.
5. Click Update Wireless Module. The updater will proceed to update the wireless module on Spark PEDAL.
   Important: Do not disconnect the USB-C cable or power off Spark PEDAL/your computer during the entire update process.

6. To update the MCU (microcontroller unit), enter MCU update mode on Spark PEDAL: hold the Power and Pair buttons until the Power LED starts blinking. Then click Next.
7. The updater displays the device type and version to install. Click Update MCU.
8. The updater proceeds to update the MCU on Spark PEDAL.
9. Done! Quit the updater and power on Spark PEDAL.
10. Verify the firmware version on the Device Card in the Spark app. See Spark PEDAL Firmware Release Notes to confirm the latest version.
