Spark GO Firmware Update (Tutorial Video)

Through our ongoing pursuit of perfect tone, you’ll enjoy significantly improved sound flexibility with optimizations to EQ Scenario and other various fixes with this firmware update.

This firmware is for Spark GO ONLY.

Using this updater with any other Spark model such as Spark 40, Spark MINI, or Spark LIVE may result in potential damage to your amplifier. Ensure that you are using the correct updater for your device to avoid any risks or issues.

Spark GO Firmware Updater

System Requirement: macOS 10.13 or later / Windows 8 or later.
The updater does NOT run on Linux, ChromeOS, iOS, iPadOS, Android, or any other systems.

Instructions

Before starting the process
  1. Back up your custom presets to the ToneCloud, Spark App, or your Dropbox account before you proceed with the firmware update.

Please be informed:
Make sure the Spark GO is not connected to any other devices via Bluetooth.
Make sure the Spark GO is not connected to the computer via a USB cable.
  1. Download and unzip/extract the Spark GO firmware updater to your computer

  2. Launch the firmware updater:

    • For Mac users, please right-click on the Spark Firmware Updater and select "Open".


      ① After encountering the warning window, click 'OK,' then right-click on the Spark Firmware Updater and select 'Open' again.
      ② You will encounter the warning window once more. Please click 'Open' to proceed with executing the updater.

    • For Windows users, please right-click on the "Spark GO firmware Updater.bat" and select "Run as Administrator" to proceed. Do not run the updater in the zip.
  3. Connect Spark GO to your computer using the supplied USB cable and power on the Spark GO.

  4. The updater will automatically detect the amp.GD2.png

  5. The firmware updater will detect if the update is available. Click the red ‘Update Firmware’ button to start the update process.

    Do not disconnect the USB cable or turn off your Spark GO/computer while updating.
  6. The firmware update is complete when you see the ‘Firmware Updated’ message. Click ‘Done’ and Spark GO will automatically turn off.

    If attempts to update the firmware keep failing, please try to update the firmware with a different computer. 
    Also, try resetting your Spark amp to factory default before the next attempt.
  7. Done! Now power up your Spark GO and start jamming.

  8. You can also check the firmware version of the Spark GO by clicking on the product card when it's connected to the Spark app.

Troubleshooting

Q: My computer does not detect Spark GO.
A: Please attempt to connect to a different USB port directly on the rear of your computer and refrain from using a USB hub.
Q: After the firmware update, Spark GO cannot be connected via Bluetooth.
A: Navigate to the Bluetooth settings of your device, unpair or forget the previous connection with Spark GO Audio, and then open the Spark app to connect Tone Control before connecting Spark GO Audio.
Q: After the firmware update, the Spark GO no longer produces sound.
A: Try to perform a factory reset for the Spark GO. See also: Factory Reset for Spark GO
Q: What should I do if the updater gets stuck at 2% or shows Error Code: -2?
A: Try running the updater again and see if that resolves the issue.
Q: If the Bluetooth update is interrupted midway (between 5% and 37%), what should I do?
A:  Do not immediately reconnect the USB for updating. Wait for about one to two minutes until the device shuts down on its own, then restart it before attempting to communicate with the updater again.
Q: After the firmware update, all four preset LEDs on Spark GO start flashing when powered on.
A: Please follow these steps to resolve the issue and continue the update process:

1. Download the alternative firmware updater from the links below:

2. Turn on and connect your Spark GO to the computer via a USB cable (we recommend using the one that comes in the box with the Spark GO).


3. Unzip and launch the alternative firmware updater.

For macOS users:

Unzip the updater file, then right-click and select 'Open' to launch it.

① After encountering the warning window, click 'Cancel,' then right-click on SparkGO_FWUpdater_with_log.app and select 'Open' again.

② You will encounter the warning window once more. Please click 'Open' to proceed with executing the updater.

For Windows users:

Unzip the updater file, then right-click and select 'Run as administrator' to launch it.

 

4. Wait until the terminal window appears and then disappears. Spark GO will power off automatically.

5. Disconnect Spark GO from the computer, power it on, and then connect it to the Spark app via Bluetooth to check if the update was successful. Tap on the product card, scroll down to the bottom, and check the firmware version.
