Spark (40) Firmware Updater

This firmware is for Spark (40) ONLY.

Using this updater with any other Spark model such as Spark MINI, Spark GO, Spark LIVE, Spark 2, Spark EDGE, or Spark NEO may result in potential damage to your amplifier. Ensure that you are using the correct updater for your device to avoid any risks or issues.

System Requirement: macOS 10.13 or later / Windows 8 or later.

The updater does NOT run on Linux, ChromeOS, iOS, iPadOS, Android, or any other systems.

Before You Start

  1. Back up your custom presets to the ToneCloud, Spark App, or your Dropbox account before you proceed with the firmware update.

Important: Make sure the Spark (40) is not connected to any devices via Bluetooth and not connected to the computer via USB before you begin.

Update Steps

  1. Download and unzip/extract the Spark (40) firmware updater to your computer.
  2. Launch the firmware updater first (before connecting the amp):
  3. For Mac users , right-click on the firmware updater app and select "Open".
  4. For Windows users , right-click on the .exe file and select "Run as administrator" .

If you are unable to launch the firmware updater, please refer to the guide on " Open a Mac app from an unknown developer " or " How to Open EXE Files ".

Rest assured, this updater is specifically designed to update your Spark amp. It is completely safe, clean, and free from viruses. 3. Connect Spark (40) to your computer using the supplied USB cable, then turn on the Spark (40). 4. Click "Connect Hardware" in the firmware update tool. 5. The updater will detect the Spark (40) and display the available firmware version. Click "Check to update" to begin the update. 6. Do not disconnect the USB cable or turn off your Spark (40) or computer while updating. 7. Once the update is completed the message "Your firmware is up-to-date." will appear. Check if the new firmware version number matches the number on the download page. 8. You can also check the firmware version of the Spark (40) by clicking on the product card when it's connected to the Spark app. To verify, refer to the Spark (40) Firmware Release Notes .

Windows 11 Troubleshooting

If the updater shows "Not Responding" on Windows 11:

  1. Close the updater completely.
  2. Right-click the .exe file → Run as administrator .
  3. Close any music or MIDI applications (DAWs, audio players) before launching the updater.
  4. Try a different USB port — use a port directly on the computer, not a hub.
  5. If the updater still freezes, try the update on a different computer.
