Firmware Update - General Guide

General Guide

  • OTA updates are available for Spark 2 and Spark EDGE, and can be performed directly using mobile devices (iOS or Android).
  • USB firmware updates can only be performed on macOS or Windows computers.
    Mobile devices (iOS, Android, iPadOS), Chromebooks, and other operating systems are not supported for USB updates.

Connection Troubleshooting — Device Not Detected

If the firmware updater cannot detect your device, try these steps before retrying:

  1. Switch USB port and cable
    Try a different USB port or cable. A faulty cable or port is one of the most common causes of detection failure.
  2. Unplug all other USB devices
    Disconnect other USB devices from your computer. This eliminates potential conflicts that may prevent the firmware updater from detecting your Spark.
  3. Avoid using a USB hub
    Connect the Spark directly to your computer's USB port rather than through a USB hub. A direct connection ensures a more stable and reliable signal.
  4. Switch to another computer
    If possible, try connecting the Spark to a different Mac or Windows computer. This helps determine whether the issue is specific to your current setup.
